There have been dozens of rumors about the iPhone 8 having an OLED display. Though there’s no confirmation from Apple, reports make it evident, that’ll be the way.
Since the last year, we have been hearing about the rumors about the iPhone 8 having OLED display. OLED, that stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode, will almost be a certainty for this year’s iPhone, which will be the iPhone 8. Another possibility that Apple will bring OLED display for iPhone 8 is that this year, it will be the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. So, the Cupertino-based company will be looking forward to bring something new and special in this edition of the iPhone.
OLED Displays Confirmed
Some reports had emanated in the past about the Japanese tech company Sharp, providing the OLED display panels to Apple.
Even though the iPhone 8 still isn’t out, we already have reports about iPhone 9. Apple has even placed an order of 180-190 million OLED displays to Samsung. Yeah, it looks a bit too early to talk about the 9th version of the iPhone, but things are that way in the world of the smartphone launch.
Confirmation from Sharp CEO
It was in the last year itself in October that OLED display was virtually confirmed for the iphone 8.
The confirmation had come from the Tai Jeng-wu, who is the CEO of Japanese display manufacturer Sharp. If the rumors were to be believed in those days, the OLED display was virtually fixed to be roped in for the iPhone 7 only. However, things didn’t fall into places and Apple had to forfeit the decision to have OLED displays for iPhone 7.
One thing is sure that the iPhone 8 will surely have the newer displays as this is even the 10th anniversary of the iPhone and Apple wants to make it great and memorable. Now, the question is which variants will get the OLED displays. It’s likely that the top variants will be the ones to get the newer displays only, while the base variant, or may be the middle variant will have traditional displays only.
iPhone 8 Pricing Models
Some initial rumors had suggested that the iPhone 8-price tag will be around $1000. This would make this phone the costliest, possibly. However, a few reports kept decorating the rumor mill with various prices being spoken of. One of them talked about the base price to be $870 and can go as high as up to $1070 for 256GB variant.
These are all rumors at the moment, and nothing’s known for sure. Moreover, Apple hardly responded to any leaks or rumors. So, we will have to wait until an official word.
